FILM

I absolutely love the look of film, and using it reminds me to appreciate each moment and each image. In this digital world, everything is so easily copied, downloaded, edited, heavily manipulated, and copied again. A photographer can take as many images as they want before the "right" one is found. Film is less forgiving, and I appreciate this aspect more than anything. It adds a different "rawness" to the pictures that cannot be duplicated with digital. It grounds me, and reminds me of when I first began my journey with photography.

To add to the raw factor, some of my images here have been taken with a Holga camera, one with 35mm film and one with 120 format film. These are cameras that not only have a plastic lens that you cannot focus, but the viewfinder does not look through the lens, so the framing of a picture is somewhat of a guess. To me, the pictures from these become a little extra unique.

The pictures here have been converted to digital via negative scan or a print scan.

The heavy grain in some is just a result of the developing process, but it doesn't bother me. I hope you see the beauty in it, as well.
